Difference between getting fit and building muscle

So what is the difference between getting fit and building muscle you may ask?

Getting fit can be done through physical exercise, whether that is cardio such as running, swimming, lifting weights, etc.

Building muscle can also be part of getting fit through weight training and other forms of resistance training.

Getting fit is important for your overall health and can work well alongside building muscle. 

Another factor to consider is whether you exercising to increase your fitness, to improve your appearance, or both.

Appearance is subjective, and everyone has their own goals and preferences on how they want to look. 

If you want a slim and slender frame like a runner, then running and other forms of cardio alone will help you get there.

If you want to have a toned look then you may want to incorporate a mix of cardio and weight training.

Or if you want a more muscular build, weight training will likely consume most of your fitness regime.

Ask yourself, how do I want my body to look?

Do you want to stay in your current shape, do you want to get lean, do you want to look bulky, strong, muscular, athletic.

These are the important questions you should be asking yourself, to get clear-headed on what you would like to achieve.

Perhaps you like how your body looks and want to feel fitter.

Or maybe you want to add some muscle, or loose some fat.

Another tip on getting clear on what you want your body to look like is to look at your favourite athletes, or maybe a movie star who has a physique you would love to have.

Some of the most well-known physiques men would love to have include - 

Daniel Craig in Casino Royale - A well-built muscular frame.

Brad Pitt in Troy - A muscular and Athletic look.

Cristian Bale in American Psycho - Slim but Athletic

Brad Pitt in Fight Club - Chistled slender body type

Maybe it’s not an actor in a movie or Tv Show, perhaps it’s your favourite athlete, perhaps a sprinter like Usain Bolt, or a soccer player like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Once you have your the body shape in mind you aim to have, it’s time to get to work and start taking action towards creating that desired body you’ve always wanted.
